MEDIA RELEASE
Saturday cash invested in brothels
CHASING women on a Saturday night can end up in disappointment, a lonely night and an empty wallet.
But in a world with a higher standard of education and countless media outlets spruiking safe spending advice in an unstable financial environment, today’s man is turning to the sex industry for a guaranteed return on investment.
Rachel Love, who is the general manager of Gold Coast brothel Pentagon Grand, said many customers were now evaluating the cost differences to achieve ‘the same goal’.
“Some of the punters that come through our door visit because it works out cheaper to buy sex, instead of chasing it,” said Ms Love.
“At the end of the day, there are numerous men who head to the nightclubs, pay cover charge, buy drinks all night and pay cab fares in the quest of getting lucky.
“And the worst part is that quite often these people will go home empty handed, or even worse, wake up with a minga lying next to them.”
Ms Love said, based on anecdotal research from customers on a Saturday night, the cost differences between buying sex and chasing it was:
Chasing Sex:
· Cab fare to nightclub precinct – average $25
· Cover charge to a descent nightclub that lets women in for free – at least $10
· First few doses of liquid confidence to muster up the courage to speak to someone of the opposite sex - $50
· After meeting your victim, social lubrication for both yourself and your new friend - $120
· Possible donations to her entourage - $30
· Cab ride from the nightclub precinct back to your place - $25
· Bus fare and cigarette to escort your princess away from your castle - $3.50
$258.50
Buying Sex:
· Phone call to brothel to request pick up from courtesy car - $0.55
· Coffee while sitting down waiting for the smorgasbord of beauties - $0.00
· Room hire and service fee from an absolute stunner who has been checked for STD’S - $150 for 30 minutes
$150
Ms Love said the comparison also had to take into account that nightclubbing had no guarantees, and, if you were to get lucky, there were further emotional costs.
“The costs involved in clubbing are similar if you do or don’t pick up,” Ms Love said.
“Then, if you do pick up, that risks that person may encounter are numerous STD’S, mistaken gender, emotional attachment or legal implications.”
